Running with an idea
What began in 2004 with 13 runners in Bushy Park is now a global phenomenon that continues to grow a pace, doubling in size each year; it’s also one that has now touched the lives of millions of people around the world.
To celebrate the first 10 years of parkrun, a team of us came together one evening – as ‘creatives’ and also parkrunners – and resolved to tell its remarkable story. Furthermore, we knew this could also be a good revenue raiser to help parkrun to thrive.
Celebrating a capacity to change lives
We wanted to celebrate the capacity of parkrun – and of sport itself – to change lives and build communities. This we did with interviews, vox pop and photos from all corners of the world, often in touching and unexpected ways.
The project grew into a beautiful 120-page coffee-table book that was shortlisted for the best illustrated British sports book of the year.
The result is amazing
“This has been a rewarding experience for me. One that has brought together many other people from our organisation across ten different countries. The final product exceeded all our expectations… and the result is amazing.”
